Self care support workshop -Protector parts, working with resistance to practice. 13th April 2024

Though the lease of the nervous system and working with IFS - Internal family systems therapy. To explore what gets in the way of a deep, regular and supportive self care practice.

“You know what helps…have all the tools, advice and practices…so why don’t you use them?”

Self care is simple but it sure ain’t easy! We are surrounded, swamped by the healthcare industry selling us stuff to feel better. But where is the self care trouble shooting manual?

This workshop aims to be just that. A hand on the heart, pat on the back education into the myriad of ways we ALL resist support and self care.

Working with the IFS theory of Protector parts (parts of our ego that defend, protect and manage our lives and relationships). We can lovingly come to understand our excuses, blocks and avoidance that naturally appear at challenging times.

Practices in will be a combination of Yoga, Somatics, Nervous system regulation, meditation and discussion.

This workshop is suitable for all students. Supporting students who are new to yoga and interested in building and maintaining their practice. Also greatly supporting seasoned practitioners and teachers to get the heart back in their practice and get to the mat more often.

€100. - 9am to 5pm with an hour for lunch.

“I want to express my appreciation for your facilitation of yet another fantastic and inspiring workshop. It took me a while to settle into the pace of the somatic sequences, but I am enjoying the feeling of the benefits of slowing down with mindful movements.
Your discussion around resistance to practicing daily, using examples from your own personal experience was really helpful, particularly as it was so non-judgmental and not really about resistance at all but about our acceptance of ourselves and our worth. That idea really fit for me and inspired me to introduce a regular morning practice, which I have started already!
I love your teaching style as having seen lots of people teaching different ideas, I was struck by how your style is so unique to you. Its a pleasure to watch you mindfully teach complex concepts in a simplistic and manageable way using your body, a relaxed conversational style and an unexpectedly wicked sense of humour!
Finally but most importantly for me and what I am most grateful for is your gentle, supportive and accepting presence throughout. This ensured I felt safe to just be myself, no matter how I was feeling. Having permission to tune into my own needs in the present was so nurturing and refreshing.
Thank you so so much again and I look forward to future workshops!”
