  • Resistance to practice - Working with Protector parts. Sat 13th April (cork city)

  • Nervous system regulation weekend. Fri 26th, Sat 27th & Sun 28th July

Protector parts - Working with resistance to practice. 13th April 2024. Cork city.

“You know what helps…have all the tools, advice and practices…so why don’t you use them?”

Self care is simple but it sure ain’t easy! We are surrounded, swamped by the healthcare industry selling us stuff to feel better. But where is the self care trouble shooting manual?

This workshop aims to be just that. A hand on the heart, pat on the back education into the myriad of ways we ALL resist support and self care.

Working with the IFS theory of Protector parts (parts of our ego that defend, protect and manage our lives and relationships). We can lovingly come to understand our excuses, blocks and avoidance that naturally appear at challenging times.

Practices in the two days will be a combination of Yoga, Somatics, Nervous system regulation, meditation and discussion.

This workshop is suitable for all students. Supporting students who are new to yoga and interested in building and maintaining their practice. Also greatly supporting seasoned practitioners and teachers to get the heart back in their practice and get to the mat more often.

€100. - 9am to 5pm. At Cork lotus yoga centre. Bookings:

Nervous system regulation…for life.

Learn to Regulate your own Nervous system. Development and maintenance of your personal daily regulation tool kit

A 3 day Nervous system regulation workshop.

This comprehensive in-person workshop will teach participants how to create their own Nervous system regulation tool kit of resources. Made up of Yoga practices, breath work, somatics, mindfulness, Vagal toning, SIITremors, Tapping and Havening. This tool kit of resources, if practiced regularly, will over time rehabilitate and restore your nervous system to balance and full capacity. So you can meet even the greatest challenges in life, both mental and physical with curiosity, confidence and strength.

…Being able to maintain your daily practice once you have it, is the real skill though. So working with the resistance we all meet to practicing self care will be a large part and focus of this workshop. Enabling you to leave this workshop with the understanding and supports you need to keep practicing.

This event is suitable for all, and aimed especially at those who care for others, or work within a caring or theraputic profession. Learning to regulate our system is at the core of essential self care.

Get to know your stress response fire your breath and make simple and deeply effective adjustments to the way you breath for your whole systems health. Learn how to support others breathing, for co-regulation and deeper connection.

  • Mindfulness meditation. Practices that teach us how to be present and return to the here and now.

  • Lectures and theory on the history of the Nervous system as we know it. What is the ‘stress response’ and what is your go to unconscious response to threat? The Five F’s: Flight, Fight, Freeze, Fawn and Faint.

  • Working with our edge. Pain, tension and fear. Expanding our comfort zone and leaning into change and the unknown. How to expand safety without removing danger.

  • Resistance to practice. That its not as simple as just being disciplined. Its in fact our Nervous System that puts the breaks on our self care! Working with our blocks, excuses and all the things that we put in the way of minding ourselves. Through simple therapeutic models of the mind we can come to know ourselves and our resistance better. Resulting in a daily practice you just cant give up even if you try to!

  • Co-Regulation. How to bring your nervous system supports into your home and work life. By regulating ourselves we can regulate others. This is especially important for those in the caring profession. Supports and resources to avoid burnout.

This event comes with recorded course home practice material which you will access though my class library on my website.

Your expertise on this workshop and the knowledge you shared was so helpful. There was so much to process and it all really landed with me. I learned so much about stress and my own reaction to it, even understanding what my triggers are. Having been through a particularly stressful period at work I am too aware of the impact of stress on mind and body (my ‘container’ exploded). The information you gave and the practices you incorporated into the workshop were fantastic. After the weekend it was the first time in a very long time that I started to feel a little more like my old self and that I was starting to reconnect with myself. And I had the best sleep in such a long time which was so badly needed.

Thanks also for sending on the practices you’ve recorded. I’m incorporating these into my evening relaxation routine. I need to get back into regular yoga classes but it’s difficult to find someone as good as you in Dublin. Or finding somewhere that has such an amazing studio which is so beneficial for a yoga practice.
